So-called drug policies are regulations on the use of psychoactive substances, especially those that cause physical and mental dependence. Alcohol is almost entirely exempt from these legal interferences – its sale and consumption are relatively unregulated and condemned by fellow citizens more leniently than other intoxicants, although alcohol dependence is one of the most common forms of addiction.
The series illustrates various forms of glorification of alcoholic substances. The vignettes are brightly colored, overloaded with stylized figures and lettering. Against luminous backgrounds, one sees fictional people and their addiction ethics in everyday situations – whether it's the defense of alcohol or the trivialization of alcoholic beverages in advertising and other media. One thing remains the same in each depiction: the whitewashing of a drug that has significant addictive potential.
The work aims to make us aware of our drinking behavior, takes a critical look at the alcohol industry, and attempts to illustrate the blurry line between casual stimulant and life-altering drug. The double standard of drug policy is made tangible for the common viewer, questioning the dissonance between the stigma of drug use in opposition to that of alcohol consumption, thus directly analyzing the social trivialization of alcohol intoxication.
